Mt Brown, Lake Kaniere Scenic Reserve, Apr 2019

A quick over-nighter with Nicola

Again, another quick trip into a hut for the evening as we grab weather windows on the coast / Arthur's Pass.

Perfect weather

On the tops at around 1,000m

Mt Brown Hut sits at around 1,100m with superb views in all directions.

Due to a Wilderness Magazine cover or maybe winning Hut of the Year recently, it gets a lot of use for a small 4-bunker.

Loo with a view

Huntaway Pinot - perfect for a tussock evening

We were beaten to the hut by a family requiring two helicopter trips to get there, but well enjoyed our MSR tent.

Not a bad hotel for the night

Dunk'in the gingernut

Ridgeline east along the Newton Range toward Newton Ridge Biv - next time!
