Totara Flats, Tararua FP, Aug 2020

A long time in the planning but finally we had a weekend organised for a getaway with good friends; Heather Atkinson and Tom and Lisa Sims.

The weather forecast was average so we'd decided to keep off the tops.  Unfortunately at the last minute Heather couldn't join, so late Saturday morning the four of us headed toward Totara Flats.

Tom & Lisa - a very cute couple

Our first stop - Rocky Lookout.

Knowing that we'd arrive at the hut early, and with an easy walk out on Sunday, I'd wisely packed a one litre flask of Whisky Mac to warm us all up, and a bottle of red to go with dinner.  Tom, the good bugger that he is, had the same thought.  It didn't talk long for the conversation to get serious - quads vs side-by-sides, hunting locations, and tramping opportunities.  Truth be told, there's very little of the evening that I can remember.

Wise heads

Heather was quite rightly blamed for the alcohol consumed as we had all planned for her company, and her particular expertise in extinguishing liquor.

One very happy girl
