As the afternoon weather forecast was better we chose a late departure time of around 9:45am. This ensured that by the time we arrived at Pig Flat the sun was out.
Powell Hut is in there - if you know where to look.
A cool day, but the first sun in probably two weeks.
Boonies are great bush boots; light, quiet and dry, but not so good in the snow - to slippery.
High Ridge heading south toward Totara Flats.
Charlie the (near) six month old enjoying her first taste of snow.
We took 2.5 hours to reach Powell, not to bad with the young dog and with the snow fairly slippery.
The new Powell Hut is certainly a better proposition than the prior. Being well insulated, a cuppa inside and we actually felt we were inside (didn't need our rain jackets!).
River crossing practice with little Charlie.
Worried onlookers as she was washed downstream.
All in all a great day out with superb views from Powell, and some obedience training for Charlie.
What a fantastic trip!, and such a handsome, well-set pup.... I saw 13 deer from the track the last time I went up to Powell
ReplyDelete13 is quite a number. A few years ago I'm thinking?
